After a heavy crash at the TT Circuit Assen, Alex Marquez has already undergone surgery on his left hand.
Since crashing out of the Dutch TT on Sunday, Alex Marquez has undergone surgery on the second metacarpal on his left hand.
The BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider crashed out of the Grand Prix after getting tangled up in an incident with Pedro Acosta.
After a trip to the medical centre, it was determined that Marquez had fractured his left hand and would be flown back to Spain to undergo surgery on Sunday evening.
Gresini Racing released a statement in the late hours of Sunday night, where they revealed that Marquez had undergone successful surgery.
The statement reads: "The surgical procedure for the subcapital fracture of the second metacarpal of the left hand was successfully completed.
"Further updates on Alex Marquez's recovery will follow in the next days."
After failing to finish the Dutch TT, Alex Marquez had to witness his brother, Marc Marquez, take his sixth Grand Prix victory of the season.
The younger Marquez brother lost 28 points to his older brother throughout the weekend at the TT Circuit Assen.
Alex Marquez is now 68 points behind Marc Marquez in the Championship standings after 10 rounds of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
The MotoGP riders will now get a week off before heading to a back-to-back race weekends at the German and Czech Republic Grand Prix in July.
