Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow looks set to go against the advice of Bridgestone tomorrow and run the harder available front tyre at Aragon's MotoGP round as it has stood him in good stead in the past.
Crutchlow took his sixth front-row start in qualifying today but says that even though the control tyre manufacturers have advised everyone to run the soft-compund fronts, he will take the harder option as it suits his style.
"It suits my style. In Jerez when we were all advised to run the soft, I ran the hard and I was a second and a half away from the winner, which is the best any satellite rider has run all year. Even with the soft in Jerez, we would have been there but I just like the feel of it," said Crutchlow, speaking at Aragon this evening.
"I have seen over the year in a few places where the guys who have used the soft tyre for practice and qualifying to get warmed up, I just use the hard but I have no problem with it. It gives me more support with my style of braking into the corner. I just don't particularly like the feeling of the soft."
