Ai Ogura has completed his first morning as a MotoGP rider and his Team Principal, Davide Brivio, has reacted to his first laps.
At the Barcelona Test the 2024 Moto2 World Champion, Ai Ogura, made his first appearance on an Aprilia RS-GP.
The Japanese rider has joined the Trackhouse Racing Team for the 2025 season and has made his MotoGP debut. Ogura's new team boss, Davide Brivio, has worked with the likes of Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Joan Mir throughout the years.
The Italian Team Principal spoke to MotoGP.com during the Barcelona Test and spoke about how Ogura was tackling his first MotoGP Test.
"He is taking a very soft approach, a calm approach," Brivio explained. "It is quite funny he got off after the first run and we asked him about his first impression and he had nothing to say at that moment.
"He gives the feeling that he wants to really think about how it is working and wants to understand it well. Unfortunately, he had a small crash, but it was at a left corner on a soft tyre.
"But I like how he has approached it by going step by step. He is trying to understand and taking his time to understand, there is not too much we can say now as he has only done a few laps, but I like his approach."
'It is a good opportunity to test new ideas... we do not have too much to test in terms of new parts.'
On the other side of the garage, Raul Fernandez is entering his third year with Aprilia and is the only Aprilia rider from 2024 staying with the manufacturer in 2025.
Brivio confirmed that Fernandez did not have many new parts to test in Barcelona. Instead, the Spaniard is working on his electronics and new ways he can ride the Aprilia RS-GP.
"With Raul (Fernandez) we are using the same bike that he had on the weekend," Brivio said. "This morning we worked a lot on the electronics, to see if there is a different way that we can use the bike, open the throttle, and stuff like that. It is a good opportunity to test new ideas or new ways of how to ride the bike because we do not have too much to test in terms of new parts."
