'Deep down I always knew it wasn't me' - Jake Dixon bounced back at Assen

Gold & Goose

Jake Dixon recorded his best result since his race win at the Grand Prix of the Americas in March.

After finishing outside of the top ten in the last three Grands Prix, Jake Dixon was able to bounce back at the Dutch TT.

The British rider arrived at the TT Circuit Assen off the back of an 11th, 13th and 17th place finish at Silverstone, Aragon and Mugello.

After qualifying down in 11th place, it looked like it could be another difficult Grand Prix for Dixon. However, he was able to fight through the front group and was in the podium fight.

Despite missing out on his third podium of the season, he was able to cross the line in fourth place, which is his best result since his win at the Grand Prix of the Americas.

"That was a good race," Dixon said.

"Finally, I feel we’re back to somewhere we should be after the last races. We made some changes this week, and I’m super happy they’ve worked.

"Deep down, I always knew it wasn’t me. But when you try to remedy that thing which you thought was holding you back, and it works, you feel justified. It’s so nice to be back at the front.

"Hopefully, we can keep building from here. We’ve got the Brno test now and we’ll keep working in this way. I was so close to the podium. I’m just feeling happy after a really rough time to come back, be competitive and finish fourth – and only two seconds from the win.

"Also, coming back from eleventh on the grid, this was a good result. I want to say a massive thanks to the team. And I can’t wait for Brno now and I the next race at the Sachsenring!"

This positive result has seen the British rider move up the order in the Moto2 World Championship as he has jumped from fifth to fourth in the standings.
