Irving to make MotoGP debut in Silverstone Moto3 wildcard

Motul British Motostar title contender Joe Irving will make his Grand Prix debut at the Silverstone MotoGP round when he will wildcard in the Moto3 race.

The 17-year-old from Holmfirth has been a consistent force in British Motostar on KTM RC 250 R machinery, taking two wins and nine podiums in 2013 and is currently battling for the championship lead after five rounds of the 2014 season, with two wins and two other podiums.

Trainee chef Irving will be aiming to impress the partisan crowd at the Northamptonshire circuit when he lines up on his familiar British championship machine, supplied and run by Loughborough-based KTM dealer, Redline Motorcycles.

“Honestly, I’m so excited – it’s a dream come true. I can’t believe I have this opportunity and Silverstone is a circuit I really love,” said Irving.

“I can’t thank Tim Walker from Redline Motorcycles enough, but there’s a lot to be done to be ready for the Grand Prix, let alone trying to fight for the British championship. I’m under no illusions that lining up against the best riders in the world will be tough, but I’m more than ready for the challenge.”
