Before his final home Grand Prix Nakagami was asked how he was feeling:

"It will be sad and emotional of course," Nakagami stated. "This will be my last home Grand Prix as a full-time rider, but at the moment it feels like it does not change anything. I feel exactly the same as I normally would, but it is something special as it is my home GP. I don't know. Day by day it will be changing at the moment it is ok."

For his home Grand Prix Nakagami will use a special one-off 'Limited Edition' helmet design. Nakagami was asked about the new design to which he said:

"It is not that simple but it is more autumn styled and on the side it has the Motegi layout and I mentioned the 'Japanese Grand Prix Limited Edition'. I like it because it is a completely different idea, colours and I love it."
