Jorge Lorenzo has opted to remain with the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team and will stay until the end of 2016.

Lorenzo did the deal with team boss Lin Jarvis at Jerez and he will have current championship leader Valentino Rossi as his team-mate for next season. Lorenzo had an option to either extend or terminate his contract at the end of this year, and has opted not to leave and find employment elsewhere.

“I can assure you and I can assure the MotoGP paddock that Jorge will be with Yamaha for 2016. We have spoken together already and its already clear, he wants to stay with us, we want to stay with him, it’s done, so Jorge will be with us this year and next. It’s a fact,” said Jarvis at Jerez.
