Manuel Gonzalez will remain in Moto2 with IntactGP if he gets overlooked for a MotoGP ride for the 2026 season.
After making his way into the Grand Prix paddock, Manuel Gonzalez now has no interest in returning to the World Superbike paddock.
Before making his full-time Moto2 debut in 2022, the Spaniard had made his way through the classes in the World Superbike paddock.
The Spaniard raced in World Supersport 300 in 2018 and 2019, where he was able to win the title in 2019 on a Kawasaki. He then completed two years in the World Supersport Championship in 2020 and 2021, before moving into the Grand Prix paddock.
Since switching to Moto2, Gonzalez has competed in 69 races as a full-time rider, has secured five Grand Prix victories and eight further podiums.
The 23-year-old also leads the 2025 Moto2 World Championship standings with the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP squad. However, it looks like he will be overlooked for a MotoGP ride for the 2026 season, but he will not look to move away from the Grand Prix paddock.
Gonzalez has stated in a recent interview that he would rather remain in Moto2 with IntactGP for the 2026 Moto2 World Championship than leave the paddock.
"The most important thing is to win the championship this year," Gonzalez explained in an interview with Speedweek.com.
"I'm aware that there are fewer spots available in MotoGP for 2026. But contracts can always change. It's often happened that something has changed despite a contract. All I can do is make sure I keep winning races.
"Some people have already set their sights on me, and not just from MotoGP, if I don't get a chance in MotoGP for 2026, I'll stay with IntactGP in Moto2. We're happy, and things are going really well."
