Marco Bezzecchi has undergone a successful surgery after suffering a fracture to his collarbone in an accident while training.
The Mooney VR46 Racing rider, who currently sits third in the overall standings, suffered the injury after a fall while training at The Ranch facility belonging to mentor and VR46 team owner Valentino Rossi.
Taken to the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Unit at UNIMORE, Bezzecchi subsequently underwent a surgical operation to assist recovery with a view to getting him back on the Ducati GP22 for this weekend’s Indonesian MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit.
The injury comes at a critical time for Bezzecchi, who remains in contention for the 2023 MotoGP title, 54 and 57 points adrift respectively of Ducati stablemates Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin with five rounds remaining.
Bezzecchi is the second VR46 Racing rider to go under the knife in recent weeks after Luca Marini also required surgery on a fractured collarbone sustained in a collision with his team-mate at the start of the Indian MotoGP Sprint.
