MotoGP Aragon: Pedrosa tops wet final practice

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has topped the third and final MotoGP free practice session at a wet Motorland Aragon this morning, just edging out title challenger Jorge Lorenzo with ten minutes left to run as team-mate Jonathan Rea keeps improving and narrowed the gap to just under 1.5s.

Lorenzo and Yamaha stable-mate Ben Spies had been in charge of the 45-minute period until Pedrosa came out for his final run, hopping from 11th to sixth fastest and then going top with his 13th lap of 17, a 2'00.490. Lorenzo's best was a 2'00.624 with Spies less than a tenth further back.

Monster Yamaha's Andrea Dovizioso was fourth but only two-tenths further back with rookie Stefan Bradl right on his tail. Britain's Cal Crutchlow slipped off, losing the front of his Monster Yamaha at turn 12 while in sixth place. Karel Abraham, also a faller, placed seventh.

Ducati's Valentino Rossi finished in eighth place but more than a second off the pace while Rea managed to nip in front of Nicky Hayden, on the second Ducati, for ninth place. Aleix Espargaro finished top CRT with Yonny Hernandez and James Ellison, who has a new engine spec for his Aprilia to use should it ever dry up, behind him.
