MotoGP Argentina: Honda inexperience the issue for Lorenzo

Repsol Honda rookie Jorge Lorenzo has said that his lack of experience with the Honda RC213V is the reason for his struggles in Argentina, and not injuries as the former MotoGP World Champion struggled on the opening day.

The Spaniard found himself second to last, ahead of only Hafizh Syahrin at the end of FP2. Despite being so far down the timing sheets, the 5-time World Champion was relatively upbeat, whilst explaining that his injuries weren’t to blame for his opening day struggles.

“My wrist is quite painful,” said the 31-year-old. "But that’s not my main issue, as I’m sure I’ll be better in a couple of weeks.

It’s more my inexperience with the bike, also the fact I’ve not had much track time. Being half a second from tenth isn’t bad though, so I need to stay focused ahead of Saturday.”

Whilst acknowledging it will be a tough weekend in South America, the Spaniard said patience is required as he settles into a new team.

“We need to be patient,” he said. “I will say that my experience with the Ducati has made me realise that results will come.

“This will be a complicated weekend, maybe Austin too, then perhaps something will change when we get to Jerez.”
