MotoGP Argentina: Podium is the goal – Dovizioso

Factory Ducati MotoGP rider and current MotoGP World Championship leader Andrea Dovizioso said that a podium finish is his target tomorrow after qualifying on the front row in Argentina.

The Italian recovered from a spill in FP3 to qualify on the front row behind Marc Marquez and Maverick Vinales. Despite the front row start, Dovizioso said that he would go into the race hoping and aiming for a podium finish.

“Our goal is the podium 100% tomorrow. During the race we will see what we can do, if we can fight for something more or not, but the podium is the goal,” said Dovizioso.

The factory Ducati man said that the work done over the last two days has left him in good spirits, as the pace of his Ducati has been confirmed.

“I’m really, really happy with what’s happened in these two days because we confirmed a really good speed and I didn’t expect that,” he said.

“I am able to be quite fast, not like Marc and I think Cal has a really good pace for the race, but we are not too far and the conditions tomorrow will for sure be different so I don’t know, but for sure will effect everybody and we will see how we work the bike and me.

“But so happy to start in the first row, I didn’t expect it, the lap time was good. To find that condition tomorrow and start on the front row was our goal for today.”
