Struggling MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez has confirmed he will revert to the 2014 RC213V chassis for this weekend’s Assen MotoGP round as he hasn’t the time to lose doing comparisons with the new model.
Marquez believes the new chassis is great for doing one fast lap but he can’t find the consistency with it that he has with last year’s version - and the 2014 chassis allows him to take more liberties.
“Of course we would like to try again the comparison but here the weather is unstable and we cannot lose time. I try in Montmelo and the feeling was more or less what I had last year,” said Marquez, speaking at the track.
“I was able to do more mistakes and less risk. With ths year’s it is ok to do one fast lap but in the race it is difficult to be consistent and just a small mistake you crash. With the other you can play more with the limit of the bike.
“Of course after the last two races we need a good result. Assen is a track I like, last year was good but it was also a mixed weather race. Two years ago Vale and Jorge were very strong. We’ll have to see how this weekend goes.”
