MotoGP Brno: Redding’s grip problems continue

Britain’s Scott Redding is again struggling for grip with his works-spec Honda RC213V at the Brno MotoGP round but has found some pace on consistency on the harder of the available Bridgestone compounds which bodes well for the race but not so for qualifying tomorrow.

As track temperatures got higher, Redding lost grip with the medium-option tyre but picked some up on the red-banded tyre, which he described as ‘strange’, and will have to do some work if he is to either get into qualifying two by right or have any chance of making it through qualfying one against the soft-tyred Open-class entries.

"It was quite greasy this afternoon but our biggest problem today was that we went quicker on the harder rear tyre than the on soft tyre. It's a bit strange because normally you feel better grip but today we didn't. At the end we used the softer rear and the harder front tyre and that combination wasn't right, which meant we struggled for the lap time,” said Redding.

“We're trying to find our way a little bit at the moment, but we’re working hard to figure out the right direction to take with set up. For tomorrow we'll try and use the harder rear tyre and see how we go with on that. Right now, as soon as I lose rear grip then I struggle on corner entry and exit, so if we can find an improvement there then we should also see an improvement in the lap time.”
