MotoGP Brno: Rossi, Lorenzo back to ‘zero’

Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo’s fight for the MotoGP title went back to zero at Brno yesterday as a win from the Spaniard and another podium by The Doctor saw them draw level on points although Lorenzo sneaks ahead by virtute of number of races won.

Lorenzo took off yesterday and only had Marc Marquez for company but by half race distance, Lorenzo’s gamble on medium-compound Bridgestones front and rear paid off as he was able to gap the reigning champion to take another victory.

“I had a little bit more pressure today because I knew inside of me that this was the occasion to win the race and recover some points with Valentino. Now with Vale we start another championship together, from zero like the first race, and we’ll see what happens,” said Lorenzo, speaking at Brno.

“ I had a disadvantage of 29 points then little by little, we won four races in a row, and especially after these last two races I could recover so many points.

“But the difference this year is that Vale is reaching a level of unbelievably consistency that meant that, even winning five races, if I cannot stay on the podium it is going to be difficult to fight him.

“So from this moment until the last race in Valencia my goal is to keep always on the podium. To win when I can and finish second or third when it is not possible. Like this I think I can fight in Valencia for the championship, or who knows maybe even before.”
