MotoGP Indy: Rea finds solutions to chatter woes

Gresini Racing's Gino Rea found some solutions to the chatter problems he has been experiencing with the Suter-framed Moto2 machine but a 20th-place finish still hasn't improved the mood of his team boss.

Rea said he felt good for the first 12 laps of the Indianapolis race but as soon as the rear grip started to deteriorate, his pace slowed considerably and a shoulder problem didn't help matters.

"The good thing is we solved some of the problems we have had all year in terms of the chatter and suspension. Now it's down to developing the bike and setting it up properly. We tried something in the warm-up that wasn't quite the right way so we went back to the qualifying setting and the first eleven or twelve laps I felt I could fight for points," said Rea.

"There was a lot of weight on the front on the brakes and I've had a little problem with the tendon in my left shoulder that made things even more difficult. When the grip level went down I couldn't keep the pace up. Hopefully now we can improve the feeling of the bike even more and bring the team the points they deserve. The good thing is I know the next track well so I hope we can start out strong there."

Fausto Gresini was a little more downbeat, however, adding: "Gino got his confidence and feel for the bike back here this weekend but unfortunately he couldn't manage more than twentieth place in the race. We expected a better result than this."
