Ducati's Valentino Rossi has taken advantage of the wet conditions in this afternoon's second MotoGP free practice session to set the second quickest time, just six-tenths behind fastest man Dani Pedrosa but four-tenths ahead of fellow former champion Jorge Lorenzo.
Rossi knows his Desmosecidi GP12 performs well in the rain and even though the track began to dry enough at the end for Stefan Bradl to go out on dry settings with slicks and carbon discs, Rossi and Pedrosa were well ahead of the pack. The Spaniard lapped in 1'50.780 with The Doctor on a 1'51.440 while Lorenzo could only muster a 1'51.873.
Reigning champion Casey Stoner was fourth and some 1.3s off the pace with Nicky Hayden put the second Ducati in fifth, just ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, Alvaro Bautista, Cal Crutchlow, Ben Spies and Bradl. Randy De Puniet was leading CRT man in 11th. Britain's James Ellison was 20th and ahead of Aleix Espargaro.
