Soon-to-be-former factory Yamaha MotoGP rider Ben Spies has remained right-lipped about his plans for 2013 following the shock announcement on Tuesday he has chosen to quit his team at the end of the season.
Speculation has been rife about what the Texan plans to do in the coming year with talk ranging from a switch to the soon-to-be-not-factory BMW squad in World Superbikes to complete retirement via a professional cycling career.
"I've known for quite a bit what my personal decision was and I just thought this was the right time to do it with all the contracts happening with other riders, to be out of the ballgame with that. There's a litany of reasons behind it, just to be stress free and get back to e doing what I want to do That's all that will be said about that until I'm ready to talk about the future," said Spies at the pre-event press conference.
