MotoGP Laguna: 'We should take up synchronised swimming' - Crutchlow

Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow joked yesterday that he and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso should enter the Olympic synchronised swimming event after their pair were separated by less than two tenths of a second after 32 laps of the Laguna Seca MotoGP.

Crutchlow and Dovizioso were stuck together for the entire race, in a battle with Ben Spies until his swingarm saw fit to snap at the top of the Corkcrew, and the Isle of Man resident said that trying to make a big pass on the Italian would have necessitated a big lunge which could have ended in tears.

"It was a good race race for me. I am happy with a top five, I qualified fifth and finished fifth. At the end of the day, the whole team did a good job. I think me and Dovi should enter the Olympic synchronised swimming because we look exactly the same, we never seem to pass each other," said Crutchlow, speaking at Laguna Seca.

"We were very similar in every area so to make a pass would have been a big lunge and not the best for my championship. It was a good battle with Ben for the first 20 laps and I feel sorry for him because it was building up to be a good fight between the three of us at the end."
