Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa will try the settings team-mate Marc Marquez used in the final hours of testing at Qatar to see if he can find the same pace and feel at this weekend’s opening MotoGP round in the desert.
Marquez was able to get closer to runaway fastest man Jorge Lorenzo in terms of pace and outright laptime while Pedrosa still struggled with the not-much-more rider-friendly RC213V and eventually ran out of his tyre allocation before he had a chance to use the setup.
“In the whole pre-season we have been struggling with the settings for various reasons. In the laptimes we were not competitive. At the end of the test I couldn’t ride due to lack of tyres but Marc could test at the end and found some improvement, so we are going to try as well this solution,” said Pedrosa, speaking at in Qatar.
“The bikes are the same but our setting and riding style is not the same. The tendancy of what we have to do is make the tyres and electronics work together with the current bike and that is why we try the similar direction.”
