The long anticipated MotoGP documentary series dropped on Amazon Prime on Monday but the reaction wasn’t as expected.
Pitched as the ‘Drive to Survive’ of two wheels, Amazon’s offering has fallen short of the mark by quite a long way compared to the F1 series which continues to go from strength to strength with its Netflix fanbase.
The widespread criticism comes after decisions to dub over the MotoGP riders when speaking in their native language, rather than simply using subtitles as expected, with many subscribers unable to even choose an alternative to the English audio (and therefore dubbing).
Entire regions have also found they are not being offered the series with Asia-Pacific and Australia amongst the disappointed fans, despite signing up to Prime video ahead of the March 14th launch date. An interesting outcome for a series titled ‘unlimited’.
Further criticism include episode one showing just a trailer while some fans dubbed it ‘unwatchable. Many, however, still welcomed the release of the documentary, praising it for allowing access into the World Championship paddock and providing a behind-the-scenes view of the sport.
