Rory Skinner will be on the sidelines for this weekend’s German Moto2 round after he was confirmed to have fractured his foot in a crash during the Italian Moto2 round at Mugello.
The Scotsman was involved in two accidents in the build-up to the Tuscany race, with the lattermost incident - caused by contact with Jeremy Alcoba - resulting in a fracture to the talus bone in his right foot.
Already forced to skip race day in Mugello, confirmation of the injury means Moto2 rookie Skinner won’t take in his first visit to the Sachsenring, while the following round at Assen just a week later is also at risk.
His place in the American Racing team for Germany will be assumed by Carlos Tatay, who returns to the GP paddock for what will be his Moto2 debut alongside Sean Dylan Kelly.
The Spaniard spent three seasons competing in Moto3, scoring his first podium in 2022 with the Pruestel GP CFMoto team last season en route to 15th in the overall standings.
For 2023, Tatay is competing in the FIM European Moto2 Championship, where he currently ranks second in the standings with one win, behind Senna Agius.
