Silverstone have today announced they will host next year’s British MotoGP round with an option to also run the event in 2018.
The Circuit of Wales, who hold the rights to the race, have asked the Northamptonshire track to step in again in 2017 and expect it to be held in late August or early September.
“I am delighted that we will be running MotoGP back at Silverstone next year. The size of this year’s crowd clearly shows the enthusiasm for the Championship which Silverstone’s fast flowing circuit shows to its very best,” said John Grant, Chairman of Silverstone Circuits Limited.
What this means for the Circuit of Wales is anyone’s guess but there is meant to be a further funding decision from the Welsh Assembly on September 12.
