'The current situation of KTM does not affect us at all' - Acosta talks about KTM's uncertain future

Gold & Goose

Despite KTM's financial issues Pedro Acosta has placed his faith in the Austrian manufacturer.

Pedro Acosta made the move to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team for the 2025 MotoGP season. However, his dream move to a factory MotoGP team quickly started to become a nightmare.

In recent weeks it has been revealed that KTM are in a financial crisis. Reportedly their debts are in excess of €3 billion, though the Austrian manufacturer has stated that they will be in MotoGP for the near future.

Recently there have been reports that KTM has been in 'concrete' talks with seven-time Formula 1 Champion, Lewis Hamilton. In an interview with Speedweek, KTM's motorsport boss Pit Bierer stated that Hamilton could potentially invest in KTM.

After these financial issues came to light there was mass panic surrounding Acosta's future at KTM. The young Spaniard had not said anything himself, but reports began spreading that he could join Ducati in 2026.

However, the 20-year-old has finally spoke and has calmed his fans about his future with KTM.

“I’m happy to have made the step up to the official team, which was what we were looking for from the beginning,” Acosta reportedly said at an event for Pont Grup.

“The objective will be to finish fine-tuning some points of the bike and look for consistency in the races to fight for better results.”

He added: “The current situation of KTM does not affect us at all, and I am sure that they will get through it.”

Before Acosta spoke about KTM's financial issues for the first time Acosta’s manager Albert Valera made a worrying statement about Acosta's future to the ‘Por Orejas’ podcast: “In May, we signed with a company that seemed to be in a strong position, ready to challenge Ducati. Today, everything has changed, and we wonder what happened.”
