Pedro Acosta has called the 2025 MotoGP season the 'most important year' of his life as he joins the factory KTM team.

KTM launched their 2025 MotoGP season on Thursday and with their launch saw the arrival of Pedro Acosta to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.

The Spaniard was a rookie sensation in 2024 as he made his debut in the premier class with Tech3. Acosta finished his first season in MotoGP in sixth place in the Championship, two points behind his new teammate.

With a year of experience under his belt and after securing a ride in the factory KTM squad for 2025 Acosta believes he can challenge for race wins and the MotoGP title.

"This is the change that I have been fighting or looking for, it is true that there were many times that we were close or fighting for our first win," Acosta told the media, including BSN, after the KTM team launch.

"It is true that maybe now I am a bit more calm at the end, but the experience has made a big change to the way I am thinking now.

"I am more calm than last year and I cannot have a better group of people around me, from the mechanics, to the engineer, to the media. The key is to stay calm and it will arrive soon."

Ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season, KTM has been in a financial crisis and it was announced that the 2025 RC16 would also be used in 2026. Acosta was asked how important the 2025 season will be for him and KTM as a whole.

"Every year is important, but maybe this is the most important year of my life," Acosta stated.

"It is my first year in a factory team, the factory is putting in more effort to understand what I need to be fast on a bike.

"It is true that I am not really thinking about the 2026 season, we need to start the 2025 season and see how it is in Malaysia."
