'We're talking about a new concept...' - Stefan Bradl discusses new MotoGP technical regulations

Gold & Goose

Stefan Bradl has discussed the new MotoGP technical regulations and the importance of Romano Albessiano.

For the 2027 MotoGP season, the sport will see radical changes to its technical regulations, with new engines, aerodynamic changes, and a new tyre manufacturer entering the sport.

The biggest and most notable change is the reduction of engine size from 1000cc to 850cc. The change in engines will lead to new concepts for the manufacturers.

However, Honda Racing Corporation Test Rider, Stefan Bradl, believes these new changes could help the Japanese manufacturer and has left him 'optimistic'.

"We're talking about a new concept and new tires," Bradl explained to Speedweek.com.

"We're switching from Michelin to Pirelli, and together with the new engine concept, it's going to be something completely different.

"Of course, I'm keen to try out this bike so I can feel the difference. I'm quite optimistic that I'll still be able to experience it.

"Resources and money are the least of Honda's problems the opportunities are definitely there, and it would make sense to take advantage of them. I trust Honda to do it, of course."

At the start of the 2025 season, Honda Racing Corporation appointed Romano Albesiano as its Technical Director.

The Italian became the first European to hold this position for the Japanese manufacturer, and Bradl has noticed Albesiano's impact at Honda in his first season with the brand.

"I notice that he's made the processes faster and more efficient," he explained.

"Things that don't work are gone. Things that do are there. Romano has certainly improved that; those are the influences of a European Technical Director.

"It was clear that he wasn't going to turn the bike upside down overnight, that wasn't going to be the case."
