Suzuki’s Arminas Jasikonis has been stripped of today’s Lommel MXGP qualifying race podium after his RM-Z450 failed a noise test.
Jasikonis, who is riding with injured ribs after a training accident, fought his way from mid-pack to third place but was later handed a five-place penalty which promoted reigning champion Tim Gasjer.
“I had a mid-pack start which didn’t make it easy as I had to eat a lot of roost early on. My riding was good though and I came through to third and actually passed Jeffrey Herlings at one point,” said Jasikonis.
“Unfortunately, my ribs were hurting quite a lot and I had to slow it down a bit after that. I finished third but I got a five-position penalty after my exhaust was damaged and I failed the sound test, so I start tomorrow from eighth place - which is still good for me.”
