The Red Bull KTM team’s dominance extends to the MX2 class where its defending champion Pauls Jonass has now won all six championship motos held so far this season.
“It is nice to start the season with six wins out of six races but it isn’t easy,” said the Latvian after his double win at Redsand. “I just tried not to make any big mistakes and stay calm to control the race.
“Overall I’m really happy with how things are going and really looking forward to the next few races.”
His team-mate Jorge Prado was second overall for the second round in a row.
“It was a good weekend,” said the Spanish teenager. “I’m really happy with second. First race was really good, in the second I struggled a bit with the speed but we worked hard so I’m happy with my second place.”
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Thomas Kjer Olsen currently sits second in the title race after an unbroken run of overall podium finishes.
“It feels really good being up here for the third time in a row,” said the Dane, “and for sure if you told me at the beginning of the season that I was going to be on the podium three races out of three I would take it so I’m really happy.”
