Small-bore adventure bikes are, clearly, like buses. You wait for one for ages then you call an Uber. No! What we mean is, loads turn up at one. Here in Milan we’ve seen the Suzuki 250 V-Strom and BMW G310 GS - and now, also, this Versys-X 300.
It is, as you’d imagine, based around the Ninja 300, with that bike’s engine mounted in a new backbone steel tube frame. Long travel suspension holds spoked rims - 19” front and 17” rear - wearing dirt-style road rubber. There’s no figures for power or mass as yet, but we’d expect 30ishbhp.
Kawasaki’s going all-in with a full range of accessories and bolt-ons, so you can customise this mini adventure tool to suit yourself. Will the 300 twin motor be enough for hardcore adventure touring? We’re a little sceptical to be fair. But as a nippy urban commuter with potential for longer jaunts, it might be just the thing…
