In an attempt to get more youngsters into road racing, the ACU has scrapped a £50 fee for its Compulsory Competitor Training Course. From 1st January 2009, any new Road Race Licence applicant aged under 17 years of age on the date they attend the course, will get their course free of charge.
“Everyone knows road racing is expensive and we are also aware that the current economic conditions will not help those wishing to race in 2009,” explained Road Race Committee Chairman Jim Parker.
“We hope that this gesture will encourage parents of younger riders, who are thinking of starting out in the sport, to take the plunge and have a go,” he continued.
