A new race series for pre-1987 Post-Classic motorcycles launching in 2016 will include a Suzuki 600 Bandit category designed to encourage first-time competitors to get on the grid at major circuits with a bike costing less than £1000.
"The class will help people into racing for the first time, or offer a second class for existing riders," Keith Chambers, founder of Formula Prostocks Racing, said.
"You can buy a 600 Bandit for £400-500 on eBay or Gumtree, and all you have to do is take off the road-going parts such as lights and indicators, and put some decent race tyres on it."
Formula Prostocks also includes an FP1 class for pre-'87 superbikes and supersport machines, and an FP2 division for pre-'87 twin-shock, air-cooled bikes.
There are plans to host rounds at circuits including Cadwell, Croft, Donington, Oulton and Anglesey.
Series sponsors include HiFlo Filters, JT Chains and Sprockets, Mid Norfolk Mouldings, Christyle Clothing and Love.
