Insurance giant Bennetts has teamed up with Bikesport News to add a new star to their stable of supported riders which currently includes Honda MotoGP rider Scott Redding and reigning British Motostar Champion Joe Francis.
With a rich history of supporting British motorcycle racing, including British Superbikes, the Isle of Man TT and home grown talent like past World Superbike Champions Neil Hodgson and James Toseland, Bennetts is well placed to provide the necessary support to tomorrow’s stars and want to find a new face at grassroots level.
Bennetts and Bikesport News will use their experience and contacts to provide a comprehensive sponsorship support package to one or more riders. Each package could include*:
- Cash bursary to go towards racing costs
- Season-long PR and marketing support campaign from Bennetts
- Personalised training and dietary programme from a former World Champion
- Media training delivered by industry professionals
- Bennetts ambassador status, alongside MotoGP rider Scott Redding, British Moto 3 Champion, Joe Francis, and two-time Superbike World Champion James Toseland
- VIP passes to the British Grand Prix
“Spain may be leading the way in terms of producing World Champions, but we know that there are plenty of up-and-coming Brits. It’s tough for our riders to make an impact on the Grand Prix stage and, unfortunately, there is very little support from within the national racing scene," said Bennetts marketing director Hannah Squirrell.
"We want to play our part and we are proud to have been involved with both Scott and Joe in 2013. At 21, Scott finished second in Moto2, the highest position for a British rider in Grand Prix since Barry Sheene in 1977, while Joe won his British title at the age of just 15.
“We are quite open in terms of who we are looking to support. The only prerequisite is that riders should have big ambitions, natural talent and a desire to make it to the very top of the sport. If they can bring that, we will provide the best possible support to help them realise their potential.”
Young riders who wish to be considered for this opportunity are invited to email their CV and explain in no more than 100 words why they should become a Bennetts ambassador. Applications should be sent to grassroots@bennetts.co.uk before February 3 2014.
*The precise details of the package will be finalised with the successful rider(s). The decision of the selection panel will be final. The panel may need to contact applicants for further information to assist with the selection process. Sponsorship by Bennetts will be subject to a sponsorship contract being agreed. Successful applicants will be contacted by 3rd March 2014.
