CHRISTMAS CHEER AT MALLORY'S PLUM PUDDING

THE 35th annual Plum Pudding races at Mallory Park near Leicester were held in bright sunlight and good cheer on Boxing Day, December 26th, with more than 3000 spectators flocking to the Friendly Circuit to watch the action.

Unusually mild weather is thought to have helped boost the crowd, which enjoyed a mixture of bike and car races at the Plum Pudding Handicap Yuletide Races.
With motorcycle races being held over six-eight laps each and Cars over 15 minutes, the on-track action at the tight but fast 1.39-mile circuit kept going until the twilight called a halt to proceedings – just as the programme was completed.

With excellent viewing of nearly the whole circuit from its raised banking, the Christmas crowd watched some spectacular but safe racing, with no major accidents or incidents.

Mallory Park Managing Director John Ward said: “What a fantastic day, there was a large crowd and cracking Christmas atmosphere. I think the riders, drivers and spectators all had a great time and the good weather was a big plus point. The Plum Pudding Races are firmly established as an annual event and certainly whet the appetite for more racing.

"Thanks to everyone that came today, I am sure everyone enjoyed themselves and are now looking forward to spring for the start of the new Championships – but in the meantime, have a very happy New Year from everyone at Mallory Park.”

If there is a motorsport fan in your household Mallory Park has the ideal Christmas present for them a Mallory Park Gift Voucher. The voucher can be used to buy race day tickets, either at the gate on the day of races or in advance. Postage and packing is free and they are valid to 31st December 2009.
