Subject to official confirmation it seems all of the 2011 EMRA Club Championships will go to the double-points finale in September with no rider able to establish a clear 60 or 30, in the case of the Buildbase Mallory Trophy, point advantage over their rivals to secure a title in round five.
Third and second place results in the Formula 125 races won by Ben Luxton and Ryan Longshaw have moved Ryan Brain closer to taking that title while two close runner-up finishes to Arnie Shelton have edged Gavin Perkins nearer to the 125GP crown as his closest challenger for that title, Andrew Fisher, twice came home fourth.
Meanwhile with two third place results Arthur Oliver remains a strong favourite to be crowned the 1300cc Roadstocks Champion, despite Andrew Soar reducing the Revolution Yamaha rider’s advantage with two clear-cut victories.
Previously undefeated in the 600cc Roadstocks division Jamie Medhurst held a 50-point lead over Clayton Lewis until an off at Edwina’s on the final lap of the first Superstock 600 race that opened the day’s programme ended that record and his participation in the meeting.
Taking full advantage of Medhurst’s misfortune Lewis scored maximum points to significantly close-in on the sidelined series leader, while that first Superstock 600 race went the way of 16-year-old ‘Man of the Meeting’ Joe Collier on his Triumph Triple Challenge steed.
Third in that race after a time-penalty for short-cutting the Edwina’s chicane cost him a place, winner of the second Superstock 600 contest, Danny Smith, should be just a point behind championship leader and twice fourth on the day, Jason Brown, if National series runner and former EMRA class champion, Leon Jeacock, takes his second and third place points.
The points difference between Brown and Smith is also negligible at the top of the Formula 600 championship, and after Smith headed Brown over the line to be the runner-up to British Supersport Cup competitor Jody Lees in race one, it was Brown who led Smith home in race two as the pair finished first and second in that contest.
Back on a 400cc machine for the first time in a year Jeacock came close to breaking the Mallory Park Formula 400 lap record as he won both of that class’ outings from Lukasz Gaslawski, whose results more than overturned the single point deficit by which he trailed championship leader Matt Zschiesche before the action began.
Returning from injury sustained at the circuit at the Race of the Year in June John Ingram won both 1300cc engagements and the Buildbase Mallory Trophy race on his BMW.
In the 1300cc class a fourth place result in race one for Mark Littler behind Dean Brown and Tim Howells saw him extend his championship lead over fifth home Phill Brooks before the Rugby-based racer negated those points in race two after he successfully held off Littler’s challenge to finish second.
Unable to be headed in the Buildbase Mallory Trophy standings, irrespective of his result on the day, a sixth place finish for Brooks gives him an unofficial 13-point advantage over third past the chequered flag Tim Howells with just the one race remaining.
