The first ACU Motorcycle Marshals Association training day was heralded a success by every one who took park. Mallory Park saw 60 marshals put through their paces on the free ACU training course, learning the essential skills of motorcycle sport marshalling.
The course included fire training, flag theory and practical, medical training, plus incident theory and practical. By the end of the course everyone was up to speed and competent in the basic skills needed to be a marshal. They can now get out there and assist at motorcycle events around the country to help make motorcycle sport happen.
Ian Dixon, Marshal Training coordinator said: “I feel very excited and proud to be offered the opportunity to develop the standards of marshalling in the UK with the new ACU Motorcycle Marshals Association. This is a positive step forward by the ACU, which will bring benefits to both clubs and riders around the country.
“The level of training is comprehensive and will continue to develop year on year. Combining all marshalling disciplines within one marshalling body can be the only way forward. British marshalling standards have always been accepted as high. The ACU Motorcycle Marshals Association shall see that this continues into the future.
“The first training day here at Mallory Park was well attended, with positive feed back from the marshals who took part. I look forward to our next training day at Donington in February.”
Two further training days are scheduled for:-
Sunday 8th February 2009 – Donington Park, Leicestershire
Sunday 15th February 2009 – Lydden Hill, Kent
