I’m in the very lucky position to be offered machinery to do several different events; however, there are still licence, entries, admin, travelling, support and maintenance fees to secure.
I reckon that do the events that I would like, I am going to need to secure in the region of £10,000. I have started a sponsor & supporters club to raise some funds (click here).
My potential race events are:
Getting Gordon back on track
Thanks to Roy and Martin at Slipstream Tuning, Gordon should be able to get out and about this season using their loaned engine. I would like to do one or two races on him, but more importantly through offering him up to guest riders, I would like to spread the word, and enthusiasm about just how good supermono racing is.
Vanni Jensen, Molnar Manx Nortons
Vanni has worked hard out of season to get his bikes looking gorgeous. I really enjoy the team spirit and family style atmosphere I get from racing in the CMRC with Vanni; but as yet, we have not confirmed details for the season. Vanni Manx.
Suzuki Moto450 Supersingle
Mark Hanna has been working really hard to come up with ‘the goods’ from the development demands I put to him over Christmas. ‘Sabina’ as she is called is looking really good – we now have a beautifully fabricated airbox with pressure sensor, special off set sprockets to help the chain run, and lots of other fantastic ‘touches’ that will make her really interesting to ride. Hoping to test her soon, and then showcase ‘Sabina’ in the ThundersportGB Moto450 Championship.
Honda MT125 – Jerry Lodge
I called in to Earnshaws Motorcycles in Huddersfield to chat to Jerry Lodge and have a look at his bikes. Jerry has built up a grid of MT125s, and offered me this lovely little blue bike if I would like to campaign it this season. It’s tiny! I best get off the pies, and on the rowing machine!
I’ve watched the class out on track and they look like loads of fun – I would love to be able to take Jerry up on his offer.
Supporters' Club
In addition to any race events I could do, I have to think about support and assistance for my other track and coaching work. With the extra time on circuit it makes it almost a continuous annual season with lots of time away from work.
I really do have to secure myself personal sponsorship; people and Companies who would like to be directly associated with my endeavours throughout what potentially will be a varied and interesting season.
It would be great to find a couple of major personal sponsors to cover the bulk of the cost and if you could be one of those, please get in touch. However, should you have a bit less to spend, but would still like to become part of the team, for this year I have set up a supporters club.
If you can help support my racing this season there are two levels you can get involved £50 or £100 - and you can easily donate using a debit/credit card via the secure online payment system PayPal.
