Morello Services have pledged to continue with their Thundersport GP1 backing in 2012, funding the extensive television coverage and also putting up a prize fund for the riders to chase.
The new purse will be worth £5 per championship point over the course of the season and to activate their credits each rider must have seven championship race finishes (whether point scoring or not) which can be achieved in just three meetings, as there are a trio of championship races per event.
Once a rider reaches 60 championship points during the course of the season, including any scored during those first three events, £300 of prize money will be automatically allocated to his/her championship account and further points are then credited at the £5 per point rate.
"From round three onwards, 50 per cent of the prize money will be paid out in cash during the Sunday TV podium presentations, with the other 50 per cent being ‘banked’ for each riders end of season prize cheque at the presentation evening," said Thundersport boss Dave Stewart.
"The above sponsorship equates to significant funding to help all riders contesting the Thundersport GP1 championship and we would like to thank Morello Services on behalf of all of our competitors for their faith and commitment to the Thundersport GB sporting ethos."
