Which of the Six Nations, which make up the bulk of the road racing fraternity in the UK and Eire, is the road racing Nation? That is what Motosix at Donington Park on the 28-29th March is about to find out.
MotoSix is a Six Nations Motorcycle Racing Team Challenge with the six nations being made up by Ulster, Eire, Isle of Man, Scotland, England and Wales. Each Nation is fielding a six man 1000cc team, a six man 600cc team and four sidecars per squad.
So who will win? Will it be one of the Irish teams with their pure road racing pedigree? How about the Manx men with all that TT experience? Maybe it will be the Celtic counterparts with the Welsh and Scottish on form. Or it could well go to the gritty English.
The English team has some well known names lining up. Two riders with a wealth of experience between them and at a young age are Matt Bond and Richard Cooper. Bond has been racing in European Superstock for the past two seasons and now returns to make his British debut at MotoSix. Cooper is also an international competitor who raced in the Boxer Cup which supported MotoGP as well racing in European Superstock.
Eire has the benefit of the current Irish Superbike Champion on its side in the form of Brian MacCormac. However the Ulster team has the Irish Supersport Champion in their ranks with Alastair Kirk and the runner up to the Irish Superbike Championship Denver Robb. Chuck in Marty Nutt, former Irish Supersport and Superbike Champion and you have a very strong line up.
Ulster also has the experience of multiple World Sidecar Champion Tim Reeves in its midst. Reeves moved to Northern Ireland at the end of last year and is definitely a boost to the Ulster team.
The Scots have road racer extraordinaire, Keith Amor swelling their ranks along with Knockhill specialist Torquil Paterson. The Welsh have Phil Bevan at their disposal and with numerous Club title under his belt he will be out to prove his worth.
As well as the main MotoSix races there is a full line up of support races. MotoSix and selected support races will benefit from TV coverage thanks to Green Light TV which is filming for Motors TV and to produce a post event DVD.
