RACE OF THE YEAR REVAMPED AND MOVED TO MARCH

Mallory Park's traditional Race of the Year has undergone a massive transformation and will now be run in March with a full television package and Superbike team support.

It is now a three-day meeting run as part of the ThundersportGB season opener and will provide BSB teams with an ideal time to do more pre-season testing and unveil their riders to the public.

ThundersportGB boss Dave Stewart said: "We are taking the race back to being a proper national meeting and not just a feature race with the odd BSB rider taking part.

"Pirelli are committed to bringing their full support service so BSB teams can get access to the latest tyres, plus Dunlop and Bridgestone will also be in attendance as part of the Thundersport package.

"It will put the Race of the Year back on the map as a meeting people really want to go to. We want it to be a big show with top team and top riders."

Starting on March 13, teams will get two 50-minute practice sessions on the Friday, two 25-minute qualifying session on the Saturday and a 20-lap race on the Sunday.

Also included is the full compliment of Thundersport classes which features a new 500 class, Moto450s and the Nitro Aprilia Superteens, which has already seen 2008 champ Fraser Rogers promoted to the Red Bull Rookies in 2009.
