Roll up, roll up, ladies not gentlemen. www.bikesportnews.com has teamed up with the stout fellows at ThundersportGB to bring you the Brands Hatch Ladies’ Cup on the weekend of June 1.

In an effort to promote the fact that women do, in fact, race bikes and are pretty damn good at it, and as a pre-cursor to trying to get a round of the European Women’s Championship here next year, ThundersportGB has squeezed a ladies’ double header at its Race for the South meeting. And all entrants will get a free race in a Thundersport class too! And there’s no registration fee either. Bargain.

Run on both Saturday and Sunday, the races will be open class (but bikes will have to conform to Thundersport classes, click here for details) with separate trophies in each category. The format will look something like this:

Saturday
10 minutes free practice in with the Thundersport class relevant to their actual machine
15-minute qualifying session in the same manner
15-lap race just for the girls with the times collated from all of the timed sessions making the grid.

Sunday
10 minutes free practice (in class as Saturday)
15-lap race (dependant on time)
