Thundersport bosses have brokered a deal with an insurance firm to offer personal accident cover for its members, marshals and officials in 2014.

The non-profit agreement with Perkins-Slade has been put together to offer cover for all those involved with the club and starts from just £2 per week.

"This underlines the importance we put on the ethos of care in racing, indeed in addition to the sporting one. It is not a commission based or sponsorship deal, the arrangement is purely between the individual rider and the broker,” said Thunderpsort’s Syd Day.

“We have commercial relationships with many companies (including some in the insurance market) this is not one of those. We specifically declined a similar package from another broker that would have paid us a percentage, because that was not what we wanted from this scheme.

“This package is recommendation based because we are dealing with an individual with integrity that we trust to look after the interests of our riders - simple and straightforward, nevertheless I still consider this to be of fantastic support for our series and wish to also thank Nigel Hayden for his valiant efforts turning our wishes into reality."
