THUNDERSPORT CADWELL: NEWS AND VIEWS

With the Aprilia Superteens Championship wide open, it was hard to know who to tip for the weekend and to make matters more confusing for the gamblers out there, we had two new winners adding their names to the list of championship contenders!

Adam 'The Stinger' Shelton took three wins out of four, stunning the normal podium takers and newcomer Wayne Ryan took his first race win and two seconds in his debut, making him the youngest ever rider to take an Aprilia Superteen win at 12yrs and two-weeks old.

Regular front runners Steph Waddelow, Jack Blake, Bruce Winfield, David Pearce, Josh Harland and Fraser Rogers all fell at some point during the weekend but all still with a worthy shout at the sharp end of the points table.

In GP3 it was Ed Rendell who took all the spoils to extend his lead in the championship, whilst Adam Dudley was the second highest points scorer from the weekend despite braking three bones in his foot from Friday's testing.

GP2 saw two wins for Mark Davies and some consistent form for Lee Dickinson, as he washed away his bad luck on Saturday with a first and second on Sunday, going to the top of the leader board.

GP1 & Thundersport 600 saw a 'Gary May Show' He won every race he competed in, giving the rest of the competition a master class lesson. Rob Elsmere was always a top four performer in GP1 along with Lee Marchant and Mark Littler, Lee Reveley taking three out of three in the Sound of Thunder as well as mixing it with the big boys.

Thundersport 600 saw Billy Mellor attempt to beat Gary May but not succeeding as he was second in all three races, Ashley Midwood was forever chasing the top two but had to settle for slightly lower podium spots.

Finally to the Junior Powerbikes and Streetfighter classes. It was a new top three all weekend as Michael Saunders wowed us all with four race wins, Rik Ballerini and Ian Cooper chipped in with constant second and third battles while Tony Coombes was happy to take the points to add to his tally.

Leon Jeacock paid the price of missing Friday's testing but consistent finishing proved he is going to be back at the sharp end come next week!
Steve Hodgson and Steve Joy shared the spoils and made up some points in the Streetfighter 'A' class taking advantage of Christian Iddon's absence. Will Hodgson did the same in Moto 450 whilst Rob McNealy was also away and Sam Read made it four from four in the streetfighter 'B' class, taking the championship lead in the process.

All in all then, a great weekend! Even World Supersport Contender Chris Walker was there to watch the action and when asked during an interview with the ex British and World Superbike competitor as to why was he was there, he said: 'To watch my pal Dicko on GP250 and to pick up some tips, it's a pleasure to be here and hand out some trophies!'

So even the best riders in the world come to see this New Series!
It certainly was not to be missed! If you did however, be sure to tune in to Motors TV on Monday 2nd June at 7pm. I and Jennie will be there to take you through all the action from a great weekends racing with Thundersport GB!
