THUNDERSPORT CADWELL: STRONG RESULTS FOR JACKSON

Lincolnshire youngster Leebob Jackson, son of ex-racer Gary Jackson and nephew to ex-BSB rider Lee Jackson rode to four strong finishes in the Aprilia Superteen Challenge with Thundersport GB over the Easter weekend to maintain his third place in the current campaign.

The 13-year-old North Kesteven School student qualified in second place in the dry after taking it easy in the first session that was run in wet conditions.

“I haven’t ridden too much in the wet,” said Lee. “So my dad told me to take it steady and get to grips with the conditions sooner than slip off. I was 16th fastest so maybe was a bit too cautious!! But it was dry for the second session and I was able to secure second place on the grid.”

The first of the four six-lap races saw the young Lincolnshire rider post some quick times to finish in third place behind race winner Andy Reid and Connor Tagg.

Race two saw the same three riders disputing the lead but although he held second place for much of the race he was unlucky to meet some backmarkers in the wrong place and this held him up, he lost ground and completed the race in fourth position.

Leebob was again unlucky in race three. He got away to a fantastic start and took the lead but was pushed wide by another competitor who was fighting for the same piece of tarmac and dropped back to 15th place at the end of the first lap.

But Leebob was in no mood to be denied a points finish and the determined rider caught and passed the midfielders to finish in seventh position.

Fired up by the previous result Leebob was not to be beaten in the final outing of the weekend and he rode an excellent race to take the win and 25 points ahead of Reid and Tagg.

This fine set of results maintains Leebob’s third place in the championship, the top three riders stretching a good lead over the rest of the field. Reid has 71 points, Tagg 163 and Leebob Jackson 124. The next highest place competitor is Wayne Ryan a way back on 68 points.

The next round is at Pembrey in Wales on May 9 when Leebob will be seeking another strong set of results to move nearer to the series lead.
