THUNDERSPORT MALLORY: MIDWOOD ON THE CHARGE

Thundersport GB returns to its home at Mallory Park this Sunday,  and one rider in particular is looking to make a big impact on new machinery.

Sitting third in the Thundersport 600 class, Ashley Midwood has so far been unable to take victory in the series so far but has been mighty close to gold on a few occasions. The last round at Snetterton saw Midwood only just beaten to the line by Rob Hoyles but the talented young rider has proven already this season with a handful of top three's that he is the real deal.

Having been spotted in the series and around the country, Midwood was given the opportunity to ride the Junior Superstock class at Oulton Park last time out, unfortunately on this occasion, a full set of leathers, new helmet and plastics have all been thrown away after a heavy crash into Knickerbrook saw Ashley land on his head.

Luckily, though, he only bruised his pride a little and is raring to go at Mallory to take on Hoyles again and Championship leader Gary May. Armed with two brand new stock Yamaha R6's, Ashley seemed quietly confident. "I am on a stock bike so I will be down on power but I'm looking forward to seeing how close I can get to Hoyles and that rapid May," he said.

With various other riders looking to either extend Championship leads or indeed chase them, Mallory is the setting for round nine of the Championship and here's hoping for better weather than the circuit provided us with at round one earlier in the year.
