Thundersport GB travels west this coming weekend as the series heads to Pembrey for rounds five and six of the Championship.
In the Aprilia Dunlop Superteens, 15-year-old Andy Reid is still buzzing after a sharp Cadwell showing and as new leader of the Championship, he will hope he can follow in the same vein of form that he showed on the Lincolnshire circuit to fend off the talented 14-year-old Connor Tagg in second and the harassing 13-year-old Lee Jackson who sits in third.
The trio have so far had the better of the opening battles this season, but with Wayne Ryan and Ben Gautrey both improving with podiums to their name, it is obvious to all of us that the chasing pack have washed away the early season cobwebs and are ready to fire into action at the pointy end again.
Coming to Pembrey as a Champion of the above class is 13-year-old Frazer Rogers, who still leads the way in the very competitive E2E Solutions GP3 series. Having won five of the six races, he has once again astonished the crowds with some mature riding and remains the young man to beat.
Sam Hornsey in second then leads a pack of ten riders that all featured one way or another at Cadwell Park, which leaves the qualifying sessions in GP3 a tense affair going into Pembrey. I could sit here and reel off reasons why as many as 15 riders could take a podium in Wales and is well worth watching if you get a chance.
Lee Jackson Snr entered the fray at his local circuit of Cadwell Park in the Metzeler Formula 600 class, giving defending Champion and current Championship leader Gary May something to think about as the Lincolnshire rider cleaned up with three out of three wins and swiftly moved into third overall.
With Jackson continuing in the series, May now has a chance to prove his weight in Gold as the pair head to a circuit as close to home for Gary as you're likely to get on a racing calendar, in fact you could call it his own back yard.
Having hopefully shrugged off an injury sustained at Cadwell Park, May will also have to keep an eye on James Henry who managed three podiums at Cadwell and climbing to second overall, and Michael Price, who returns to action after the knock also sustained upon the twisty circuit.
Look out for the pink helmet (no pun intended) of Cliffy Hamilton too, he won here last year on a washed out circuit on his debut with Thundersport GB and will no doubt be joined by many riders over from the North and Republic, that are looking to rock the boat at Pembrey.
With Leon Jeacock and John Simpson back for rounds five and six in the Pirelli Superstock 600 class, they will soon find out that one or two riders in the class have woken up since round one at Mallory Park and we could be in for a thrilling race.
Danny Miles and Ricky Simmonds both looked good at Cadwell (until Simmonds crash snapped his suspension) and with the two Brown's (Dean and Rob) also taking podiums so far, I'm predicting a five or six way battle for the lead in Wales.
Sam Parry and Erol Ahmet will be keen to get involved too but the Irish run well here and expect to see the North's John Simpson full of charge come Saturday.
The BSN.com Junior Powerbikes Championship closed right up yet again at Cadwell Park, a nasty crash for Alex Hutchinson and some clinical riding from Rob Elsmere on board that grunty IN Competition Aprilia 550 meant that the pair are now split by a single point going into this event.
Sam Coventry recovered well from the Mallory Collar-bone incident to climb the points table, and Alex Heaton is once again ever present at the sharp end, as the pair fought with Tony Rand for most of the weekend.
The Junior Powerbikes are joined this time by the MiniTwins as Leigh Hutchinson looks to extend his points lead over Richard Willshire and the GiMoto Streetfighter B class will also be out, with the experienced Barry Utting looking to cut the gap between himself and the leader Ian Popplewell who is soon to be named 'popularwell' due to the roars of applause from his fans on presentation evenings.
With defending Supertwin Champion Lee Reveley back after his incident at Cadwell, as well as Michael Price, the series gets more intriguing by the round as Dangerous Brian Greenfield leads the way from Stewart Bradford.
Greenfield went well here on his Thundersport debut in 2008 and will want to improve yet again as he sets back into the normalities of bike racing again after his long break off before 08. Kevin Jones is another who could also feature, and never count out South African Clint De Tarnowsky, it is around this time of season where Clint awakes from hibernation and stuns his opposition.
Joining the roaring twins is the GiMoto Streetfighter A Category which has again supplied viewers with some great racing to watch on the naked sit up machines. Jamie Wilkins is the current leader of the class having won nearly every race since Mallory Park, but with the all black coloured machine and leathers of Andy Denyer ready and waiting for any mistake to be made by Wilkins, he'll need to be on the ball at a circuit he enjoyed some good results at in 2008.
Only a little further behind is Chris Matthews and he'll be no doubt joined by the likes of the ever smiling Keith Smith, and the dark horse Andrew Plaskitt.
It's a welcome back to Scott Kelly and Rory Clarke when we visit Pembrey in the CIA Insurance GP1 class, the pair were both regular podium visitors at the welsh rounds in 2008 and would love to join Phil Crowe, Gary May and Championship Leader Peter Baker on the winners list for 2009 so far.
Another rider capable of and desperate to win his first race of 09 is the ever trying 'Yaxley Flyer' Rob Hoyles. Rob from Peterborough was unlucky not to take the top step at Cadwell and will be keen to get his Paul Caunce Racing Honda to the front again and this time make it stick.
With the power of the Morello roofing Suzuki of Baker though, the nimble R6 of Gary May, the determination of Stuart Hall, the persistence of Phil Crowe and the hunger on a packed out GP1 grid, this could be anyone's and gives you lots of reasons to watch the battles commence. Look out for Paul Shook too, he was a constant threat here at his home circuit in 2008 and on his day, he's podium bound.
Finally to the hot topic of the Bridgestone Thundersport 500 Class, it's been a revelation since its introduction to our roster and the racing's been nothing short of incredible also.
It seems odd then to have a dominant figure in the Championship, as John Butcher has taken most of the victories. The #18 machine is never far from the front and his last three laps of every race have so far been a joy to watch. Jonathan Harrison and Chris Pickersgill will no doubt be chomping at the bit wanting to beat their new rival and look out for the rookie vests too, they certainly aren't shy of going into corners three a breast.
