Davey Todd will have the opportunity to audition for a spot in this weekend's Suzuka 8 Hours event.
Ahead of the iconic Suzuka 8 Hours event this weekend, Davey Todd has arrived in Japan for an audition with the AutoRace Ube Racing Team.
Todd is fresh off completing Round Five of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch, where he secured his first point of the season.
The British rider has been recommended to the Japanese team by BMW and will test the team's M1000RR on Wednesday.
This opportunity has come up last minute for Todd as he has the chance to replace the injured Hannes Soomer.
A social media post from the AutoRace Ube Racing Team reads:
"Davey Todd, a potential replacement for Hannes Soomer, has arrived in Japan. He's been recommended by BMW and will be auditioning at the test run on Wednesday, July 30th!
"Todd won the Superbike class at this year's Isle of Man TT race aboard a BMW. He also won two classes at the Isle of Man last year.
"Not only that, he also won the BSB Pirelli National Superstock championship last year and is competing in the British Superbike this year!
"This will be his first time at Suzuka, so we're excited to see what kind of performance he puts on."
If he is successful and gets a spot in the Suzuka 8 Hours squad, Todd will be joining up with former Grand Prix and World Superbike race winner, Loris Baz, and MFJ All Japan Superbike Championship rider, Naomichi Uramoto.
Todd will be going up against ESBK rider Ivo Lopes in his audition on Wednesday, as the Portuguese rider has been suggested by current AutoRace Ube Racing Team riders Baz and Uramoto.
