Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes stormed to the fourth fastest Superbike time in the opening Vauxhall North West 200 Superbike practice session today despite having never ridden on the track before.
The British Superbike star was very pragmatic about his performance, saying he just rode round and looked where he was going but added that braking markers where his main place for improvements. At one stage the Bringelly man was actually the fastest rider on track for two laps running.
"I'm pretty pleased but I just rode round and looked where I was going. I need to work on braking areas as that is the most difficult thing but the Superstock bike is where we need to work," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"It's been a couple of years since I rode on treaded tyres, so we need to do some work to make that feel right but it's been a good first day. I spent two laps out on track with William Dunlop and I am learning all the time."
