RAF Reserves Honda rider Simon Andrews had a 'tough but enjoyable' first taste of roads action since his massive TT crash last year but says he is enjoying himself at the Vauxhall North West 200.
He started yesterday's Superstock race from the second wave but came through to bag 13th place just behind Cameron Donald even after the group of riders he was in all ran on in the opening laps.
"It was interesting going from completely dry into a big belt of rain down at University, a load of us all ran on and had to turn round to start again but we got going and I was pleased to be battling with Cameron," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"I made a bit of a mistake in the Supersport race on the run into York corner after a great start. I got the gear wrong and got swallowed up but I'm glad to be back here even though it was a tough day.
"We might run the Superstock bike in Saturday's Superbike races if it is wet but if it is dry we don't stand much chance."
