After posting the bike's first ever DNF in the 2013 500cc Classic TT race, Bruce Anstey had better luck this time around on the McIntosh Norton bringing the bike home in a fine third place. The Ken McIntosh owned machine has an impressive pedigree with nearly 30 wins from it's 35 starts but after retiring from second place last year, the Kiwi vowed to return this year to get the bike to finish.
Fellow Kiwi Anstey was again given the task of piloting the bike and after a steady opening lap saw him place in sixth position, he quickened his pace as the race wore on and, aided by a fastest lap of 108.110mph, he eventually took the final spot on the podium 45 seconds behind runner-up and fellow Norton rider Dan Cooper.
"That was a really good ride and I learned from last year," said Anstey, speaking to bikesportnews.com afterwards. "I took it a bit steadier this year and didn't over rev the bike and it didn't miss a beat the whole way.
“I had good signals throughout the race so knew I was moving up the leaderboard and I slowed right down on the last lap to bring the bike home. I only just got home though as there was literally no fuel left in the bike and it was spluttering as it crossed the line but we got the podium we wanted and I really enjoyed it."
