For the second year in a row, Ivan Lintin won the Supertwins race at the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix with the Lincolnshire rider leading the race from start to finish to take the win by almost 15 seconds from Derek McGee and James Cowton.

Speaking to bikesportnews.com afterwards, Lintin said; "I got my head down for the first two laps and then looked behind me so i was pleased to see there was no-one there as it wasn't the conditions to be pushing on. The Twin doesn't chew the back tyre up like the other bikes and although it was relatively dry from Deer's Leap through to Wheeler's, the fog and drizzle was really setting in from there on to the end of the lap."

Conditions were the worst they'd been all day when the five-lap race got underway but Lintin and the McKinstry Racing Kawasaki were in form and his lead was already six seconds by the time he started his second lap with McGee and Christian Elkin occupying second and third. Lee Johnston only got as far as Leathemstown on the opening lap though before retiring with Glenn Irwin pulling off the grid before the race got underway with a suspected oil leak.

Lintin had no such concerns and continued to extend his lead throughout the race, his margin over McGee up to nine seconds going into the penultimate lap and the big change came in third with James Cowton getting the better of Elkin by half race distance.

Lintin continued to press home his advantage and took his second Ulster GP victory by 14.3s from McGee who had a comfortable margin over Cowton. Connor Behan on the sole KMR Kawasaki took fifth ahead of Ian Morrell with Michal Dokoupil, Paul Shoesmith, Timothee Monot filling out the remainder of the top ten.
